Traits are written on Scryptals' DNA, for every
a new trait can come out on the evolving scryptal. Traits have a generic definition and is very difficult that the same trait appears the same on different scryptals, for example "Animates waves" can move at different speed and "Waves" can be more or less wide and more or less numerous, "Rotation" can be slow or fast and so on... These traits variations have equally distributed probability in most of cases, "fast waves" are not more or less probable then "slow waves" but having a "Waves background" has a specific probability.

| Flashy | Has central lightning | 2%, the more lightning there is, the rarer it is |
| Stormy | Has radial lightning | 1%, the more lightning there is, the rarer it is |
| Rotating | Moves like a pinwheel, has a rotating animation | 1% |
| Fading | Is thin as air, has a fading animation | 1% |
| Rainy | Is in a humid environment | 1%, the more rain there is the rarer it is |
| Animated gradient | The gradient background is animated | 1% |
| Snowy | Is in a frozen environment | 0.9%, the more snow there is the rarer it is |
| Brightness | Shines in the light | 0.16% |
| Originator | Is one of the first 31 "Originals" minted and chosen by Scryptals.io author | 0.1%, only the first 31 belongs to the "Original" family and the maximum number of scryptals is 31'415 |
